Slow Day
Yes that is what today is, a slow day. I am currently on hour number 10 1/2, but come on. My 12 hour days usually don't feel this long. I am bored out of my mind. I have had plenty of people come by needing a weapon but still.
Also, the threat level is really high here in Kuwait now. MP's (military police) have arrested a few Kuwaiti military personnel. They are currently under investigation. I do not know the whole story, but I do know that they were planning an attack on a U.S. Camp. It's sad, because ever since 1991 (Desert Storm), they have wanted us here. All I know is now when we go off camp we have to have our body armor on and our kevalar within reach.
I can't wait, I currently have only 79 days (11 weeks) until I am home for R & R. I know I have only been in this country for a little over 3 months, but I still feel like it has been longer. By the time I do go on R & R, I will have had my boots on ground for 6 months. Now that is too long.
A buddy of mine once told me "Dennis, do not take life for granted, it can come and go in a blink of an eye". I know these words to be true, because before my friend could blink, he was gunned down by a sniper in Northern Iraqi. Please everyone, take care of yourself and remember to spend as much time with your family as long as you can.
